We are gathering Learning Resources at present. The Transition Town approach includes “reskilling” for example, and several Steering Committe members have  attended Transition training courses.

A Little Bit of History…

(courtesy of Wikipedia)

“Transition Towns (also known as Transition network or Transition Movement) is a movement that was created by Louise Rooney and popularised by Rob Hopkins. It was founded in Kinsale, Ireland and was then spread to Totnes, England by environmentalist Rob Hopkins during 2005 and 2006. The aim of the project is to equip communities for the dual challenges of climate change and peak oil. The movement currently has member communities in a number of countries worldwide.”

The Transition Handbook

Rob Hopkins has published the defining Handbook.  We can’t really say it any better than that.  The Steering Group are using the handbook to help get things going.  The Handbook also includes excellent chapters on Climate Change and Peak Oil.

Transition Culture

Rob Hopkins Blog which “explores the emerging transition model in its many manifestations”… and alot more besides that.
